Don from Delaware

What a great find!! I never knew this blog existed but really enjoyed looking at all the “old” pictures.

Thank goodness there isn’t any evidence on my part. I must have had a premonition and ended up “missing from picture”. (referring to the freshmen group picture in previous blog).

Finally I'm close to Pennsylvania after spending time in Florida and Indiana. Being in Delaware, the State of “no taxes” should make it easy to make the reunion. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Don

Good to hear from you Don, formerly from New Philadelphia; glad you plan to attend on October 18th. Pass the word and the blog address on to others. Suggestions for that weekend are welcomed.

Sacred Heart Church, Valley Street, New Philadelphia

Yes, Delaware, "the first state in the Union," "the Blue Hen State," the state with the ladybug as its official insect, and, of course, the birthstate of that great american, George Thorogood.
Below is a photo of an unidentified blue hen fan (not Don). Here is a short toe-tappin' film about the State of Delaware: "I'm From Delaware."

Alabama here!

Hi,
Looking forward to being in Sweet Arrow Lake Park. I'm all the way up in the northwest corner of Alabama as far as you can go in Alabama and not get into Tennessee or Mississippi.
Great work on the blog site.

Don Riedel

Good to hear from Don, our highest ranking classmate, from down in the heart of Dixie, the birthstate of Jimmy Buffet.
Here is a short film involving Alabama for those who have time on their hands:
If you want to hear one of the greatest songs about Alabama then click this link and turn up the volume: LYNYRD SKYNYRD singing "Sweet Home Alabama."

Greetings from Reading, PA.

Hi,

Heard I'm MIA. Well, I have been living in Reading for past 38 years.... I don't necessarily get the "home" news.

Please keep me posted.
Thanks much. How the heck did 40 years go by so fast?
Essie Gittleman Glass

I can't really answer the question concerning the concept of time.
Luckily this year will go by slower due to it being a Leap Year.
I am not sure who gets the reward for locating Essie.
She is now off the MIA list. Can anyone find others on that list?

Bring some grapefruits and oranges up when you come up in October.
Don't forget we need email addresses for others!

the wonder years? freshman III

1964: the Four Seasons performed a sold-out show at Nativity High School. The show is often compared to that of James Brown playing the Apollo. The album, "Live on Lawton's Hill" is never released due to contractual disputes the band had with Vee Jay Records. The album remained a cult favorite on underground radio throughout the sixties. Copies can be had in Chinatown and Renninger's Market :)

The Wonder Years? freshman VI

1964

Yes. 1964. It was the year of "Oh Pretty Woman" and "Goldfinger." It was the year that Lyndon Johnson won in a landslide on a peace platform and Cassius Clay defeated Sonny Liston.
