St. Stanislaus, Minersville

St.Stan's Church on Spruce St.

I received this email with a request to post, so here it goes:

Greetings....
I've volunteered to help with the 2008 Minersville Area High School 40th Reunion… well, while at it, I was looking into trying to find some of my elementary parochial school St. Stanislaus classmates... some attended MAHS, but the others went to NBVM and I haven't seen them since 5th grade as I moved over to public school in Llewellyn for grade 6. I have been in touch with one of those classmates, Bob Namiot... attached is our St. Stan’s First Holy Communion group picture and we came up with the following names of St. Stan classmates... question some spellings… can you post this or pass along to those in the 1968 class at NBVM… I’m trying to find those that went to St. Stans and then NBVM….I’ve highlighted those that did not go to MAHS and I would guess, went onto NBVM… thanks.

Tim Mihalski,

1965 Chevy Malibu

Not all of the 1960s music was great, in fact some
songs were downright awful: for example this one
But don't forget the greatest of all rock songs debuted in 1965.

It was a good time to dream about cars. It was also a good time to listen to the Stones on AM radio.

Sister Rosella

Sister Rosella Jakubco, M.S.C.
1915-2006
To her six siblings, Margaret Jakubco was their oldest and very devoted sister. They all attended Saint Michael School in Lansford, PA. Her faith-filled parents supported Sister Rosella’s entrance into the convent along with her sister, Sister Frances, who joined the M.S. C. Sisters a year later. The youngest child, Bernard, later became an MSC priest.
Sister Rosella is remembered by her colleagues for her generous, fun-filled spirit, and her dedication to her students. Like the earliest M.S.C. sisters who arrived in the United States in 1908 and who taught the Jakubco children, Sister Rosella began her many years of teaching among the children of Slovak immigrants in SS. Cyril and Methodius School in Bethlehem. Sister Rosella knew how to balance her life of prayer and service to her students with a sense of humor and wit.
To her students, Sister Rosella is remembered as an excellent teacher. For 26 years she taught mathematics at the secondary level in two of the Allentown Diocese high schools: Central Catholic in Allentown and Nativity B.V.M. High School in Pottsville. Before she retired to the motherhouse in 2001, Sister Rosella helped in her home parish and school.
Sister Rosella was looking forward to the celebration of her 70th anniversary, but that would not be in this life. On April 11, 2006 in the presence of her Sisters and family, Sister Rosella went home. She was ninety years old.
