I forgot to mention in the previous sports-related blog that in 1968 O.J. Simpson won the Heisman Trophy for being the best college football player of the year. In 1999 his trophy was auctioned off for $230,000. with the proceeds used towards payment of the 33.5 million dollar civil judgment lodged against him. In between he was noted for Hertz rental car commercials and playing the part of Nordberg in the Naked Gun films, and leading a police chase in his Bronco.
