random photograph #10

From my recollections of the early 1960s, MAD magazine would never bring a smile to the faces of any teacher. Therefore it is the first clue that this photograph is a fake. At first I thought it the forgery had something to do with the floor lamp but I was wrong. The fraud perpetrated upon this blog has been substantiated by the skilled Skylines Photographic Forensic Laboratory, Lawton Hill, Pottsville, PA.
I am sure that the good sisters would get a kick out of the humorous photograph -from left to right: Sister Marie de Lourdes, Sister Jane de Chantal, and Sister Clare Cecilia.
Here is a great tribute to MAD magazine: Born Under a MAD sign.

Memorial Day

EULOGY FOR A VETERAN

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glint of snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain

When you awaken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die

The Variety Show

Back then there was Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour. Some notables that gained recognition on that show were Irene Cara back in 1967, Gladys Knight, Pat Boone and Ann Margaret.

random photograph #9

Photograph #8 is currently being examined by the Skylines forensic photograph laboratory for image authentication. Study it carefully and then try to detect something wrong with the picture. It appears to depict Sisters Celestine, Margaret Alacoque, and Marie de Lourdes, along with Mr. Lonergan, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. One easy question come to mind: Did Sister Marie de Lourdes ever teach any social studies subjects as did the other faculty members in the photo?

Hello from Florida!

St. Stephen's Church, Port Carbon George, circa 2008

Hello,
About the reunion....I don't want to miss the 4oth. I only attended the 25th since graduation...and I enjoyed every minute.

Best regards,
George D.
P.S. The blog site is excellent.

It was good hearing from George, who relocated from Port Carbon and now lives in southern Florida. Speaking of Florida, did anyone out there know that
Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, was born in Florida in 1943 ? Melbourne to be exact. Also, Florida's state reptile is...what else? the alligator. Below is a photo of an alligator that was spotted recently in George's parking lot. Apparently the gator was suffering from reptile dysfunction as parking lots are not a gator's normal habitat.
